What's a credit?
Each call costs credits: most tools cost 1, the fire situation costs 2. Calls that fail, or find nothing at the point, are free.
What if a data source is down?
Every answer lists any source that failed under "unavailable", so you can tell "no smoke here" from "the smoke feed is down". We never report an outage as an all-clear. If every source is down, the call is free.
Where does the data come from?
Public sources: NOAA (weather, tides, smoke), USGS (river gauges and water names), EPA AirNow (US air quality, preliminary data) and Environment and Climate Change Canada (Canadian air quality), NIFC and CWFIS (wildfires), and, for fishing outlooks, GBIF species records, verified Guidepole catches and state fish and wildlife regulations. Combined and checked by Guidepole. Every response lists the sources behind the parts it returns.
Can I use it in an AI agent?
Yes. Point any MCP client at the server with your key, and the tools show up with their descriptions.
